$700M NBS Head Office for commissioning early January

– Chairman, Dr. Nanda Gopaul
THE $700M state-of-the-art building, at Company Path and Avenue of the Republic in Georgetown, to house the headquarters of New Building Society (NBS) should be commissioned by early January.
Chairman of the NBS Board, Dr. Nanda Gopaul gave the indication when he, other directors and senior staffers toured the construction site on Thursday.

He said the Board members and staff were happy with the progress being made on the job started last year.
Gopaul said inclement weather, up to a few weeks ago, had delayed the work somewhat but, as of Thursday, the major structures were in place and much of what remains to be done comprise mainly finishing touches.
He said the Board and staff were looking forward to accommodating customers in the ultra modern and spacious edifice, as the existing Head Office, in another part of Avenue of the Republic, that has been in use since 1940, is now very cramped.
The four-storey building is being erected by B.K. International Construction Company, with only steel props and forms, in keeping with the Low Carbon Development Strategy (LCDS).
With its numerous plate glass windows, it will not just offer customers greater space and comfort but also add to the aesthetic appeal of downtown Georgetown.

It will be equipped with an elevator to afford easy access to the above ground floors.
