In Region Two…
MEMBER of Parliament (MP), Mr. Parmanand Persaud has expressed disgust and dissatisfaction over what he described as “the poor performances” of environmental health officers attached to five Neighbourhood Democratic Councils (NDC) on Essequibo Coast.
Speaking at a meeting of the Local Government and Co-ops Sub-Committee of the Regional Democratic Council (RDC) of Region Two (Pomeroon/Supenaam), last Wednesday, he called for more action, by the Regional Administration, to ensure that the officers perform according to their job requirements.
Persaud said the officers were not trained, by the Ministry of Health, to give efficient and quality service to citizens, through the NDCs.
Chairman of the Sub-Committee, Mr. Pooran Persaud endorsed the remarks of his namesake and challenged the officers to be more active on the ground, with regard to sanitation, disposal of garbage and drainage.
