Guyana Chronicle editorial welcomed

WE welcome the Guyana Chronicle editorial “Building a partnership approach to crime fighting”. As usual my comments are not primarily for publishing but to spur your continued action in questioning, pursuing and helping to inform or seek solutions to problems. CPGs primary purpose is to act as the eyes and ears of the police, to assist in prevention, apprehension and prosecution of criminals. There is a need for CPGs to help create so called “Neighborhood watches”, which simply means that neighbours must keep watch on each other’s houses, devising signals when something appears wrong and contacting them, CPGs or GPF. Better attention to preventing easy access to a house.  Greater security measures are needed when families have overseas visitors. Keeping large sums of money and valuables in one place should be discouraged. Too little care is taken in displaying, carrying and withdrawing large sums of money which leads to loss of live or valuables.
