Jacobs to lead Demerara U-23 against Berbice today

FORMER Guyana and West Indies Under-19 skipper Steven Jacobs has been selected to lead the Demerara Under-23 side against Berbice, when the two teams meet in a 40-overs-a-side affair at the Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) ground today for the Colin Wiltshire Memorial trophy.
According to a DCB press release, if Jacobs, who is presently on his way to Guyana from South Africa where he was a member of the Caribbean’s winning T20 championship and Airtel Champions League T20 team, Guyana Amazon Conquerors, is not back in time for the first match, pugnacious opener Rajendra Chandrika will lead the team in his absence, with Vishal Singh as his deputy.
Also included in the team that will face the Ancient County lineup in a rematch at the Albion Sports Club ground next week are Trevon Griffith, Wasim Haslim, Travis Blyden, Andre Stoll, Amir Khan and Kellon Carmichael.
The Demerara Under-23 team reads: Stephen Jacobs (captain), Rajendra Chandrika, Vishal Singh, Trevon Griffith, Jeetendra Sookdeo, Travis Blyden, Elton Baker, Joseph Perry, Totaram Bishun, Amir Khan, Videshwar Lall, Andre Stoll, Kellon Carmichael, Wasim Haslim and Surujpaul Deosarran.
Denver Greaves, Krishna Deosarran, Chanderpaul Hemraj and Raj Nanan are the standbys in the Gavin Nedd-coached, Raymond Barton-managed lineup.
