PATRICIA Ramkissoon, of Corriverton, Corentyne, Berbice, is nursing injuries to the body following a brutal attack, by bandits, at the family business place on Sunday.
The woman is a patient at Skeldon Hospital, Corentyne, where she was admitted after being brutalised by the robbers who stole money and jewels.
She was reported to be in stable condition after being beaten with a gun by the gang.
Police, reporting on the armed robbery, said Erick Ramkissoon, 54, a businessman of Main Street, Corriverton, was robbed by seven men armed with guns about 22:15 h on September 19.
The report said an undisclosed amount of cash and jewellery were carted off by the intruders.
The man Ramkissoon operates a grocery shop and liquor restaurant on the ground floor of his two-flat building and he and his wife were upstairs while their two sons were downstairs tending the business.
Police said the assailants held the siblings at gunpoint and took them into the establishment, during which time they alerted their parents.
Their mother ventured downstairs, leaving her husband hiding in a bedroom but she, too, was assaulted with a gun and the bandits took their booty from a drawer in the shop and escaped.
