GCA Tropical Mist Peewee Twenty20 tourney starts today

THE Banks DIH Tropical Mist Water-sponsored Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA) Peewee Under-13 Twenty20 cricket competition bowls off today with one match at the sponsor’s ground, following the launching yesterday.
Communications Manager of Banks DIH, Troy Peters, stated that they were extremely pleased to be associated with the GCA for this competition, and more importantly to see young, aspiring cricketers involved.

“We (are) extremely pleased to be a part of the competition, because I think to have the youths playing it is a good opportunity for them to showcase their talent.  I also think it is indeed a great initiative by the GCA to have this level of cricket being played in their developmental programme, and when the GCA approached us, we had no hesitation to support them,” Peters declared.
President of the GCA and former West Indies all-rounder, Roger Harper, in his remarks expressed gratitude to Banks DIH.
“We are very grateful to Banks DIH. I think this gesture will go a far way because our objective is to ensure we have young cricketers being a part of our programme,” stated Harper.
The competition will be played every Saturday and will conclude by mid-November at the same venue with several trophies up for grabs.
Five teams namely Malteenoes Sports Club, Everest Cricket Club, Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC), Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) and Thirst Park XI are the participating teams with GCC and DCC kicking off things today in the first game and excitement galore is highly anticipated.
