Bakewell adds dough to staging of President’s Cup football

BAKERY giant Bakewell yesterday handed over a cheque for an undisclosed amount to Director of the Kashif and Shanghai Organisation, Aubrey ‘Shanghai’ Major, to assist in the successful staging of the President’s Cup football matches between Guyana’s Golden Jaguars and Trinidad and Tobago’s Senior and Under-20 teams set for September 26 at the Guyana National Stadium, Providence.
Manager Rajin Ganga handed over the cheque to Major at their Triumph Office noting that Bakewell was very pleased to join other corporate entities in making this venture a success.
“We are backing our ‘Golden Jaguars’ to take care of Trinidad in both games on the 26th and we would also like to see Guyanese come out to pack the stadium to cheer our boys to victory.
Bakewell has been partnering with many sport disciplines and has been supporting such development across Guyana so we see this contribution as a continuation of our commitment in the further building of sports in Guyana.”
Major, in saying thanks, said that the local team went into camp last evening while some of the overseas players will start arriving in Guyana tomorrow.
He is urging fans to wear yellow or gold in support of their team next Sunday and is reminding that children Under-12 will be admitted free while the cover charge is $1 000.
