Troy Theodald, (no address given) appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Beharry and particulars of the offence stated that on September 12, he stole one gold chain, valued $17,000, from June Ann Brassington.
Police Inspector Stephen Telford, prosecuting, said on the day in question the defendant went up to the virtual complainant and pulled the chain off her neck.
Telford said in an effort to escape, the defendant ran into the hands of two police officers who were nearby and the chain was recovered in the defendant’s pants pocket.
The defendant, in his explanation, told the court that at the time of the incident he was not thinking right because he had no money and was frustrated.
The magistrate ordered a probation report and granted bail to the defendant in the sum of $40,000. She ordered that sentencing will be on the completion of the probation report, which was fixed for September 28.
