GUYANA’S leading Youth and Sports Club, the Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club, will be launching their 11th Annual Youth Review Magazine at Guyana Telephone and Telegraph (GT&T) staff canteen on Hadfield Street tomorrow.
The 48-page magazine is a production of the club’s Public Relations & Educational Committee and forms part of the club’s effort to keep the nation informed of its numerous activities and programmes.
Club Secretary/CEO Hilbert Foster who was the Editor of the magazine disclosed that it was printed at the F&H Printery in Georgetown and was sponsored by Cellink, Banks DIH Ltd, Scotiabank, IPA Health Care and twenty other sponsors.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of GT&T Yog Mahadeo and Cellink Marketing Director, Wystan Robertson, would speak at the launching which according to Foster, is expected to be graced with the presence of His Excellency President Bharrat Jagdeo and Minister of Sport Dr Frank Anthony.
The magazine which would be used as the club’s 20th Anniversary souvenir would be shared out to club members, supporters, sponsors, sports clubs, libraries, government offices and overseas-based Guyanese.
Meanwhile the club continues to host activities to mark its historic anniversary.
On Saturday September 3, the RHT Farfan and Mendes Under-15, Bakewell Under-17 and Pepsi Under-19 teams spent the entire day cleaning the compound of the historic Dyett Memorial Presbyterian Church in Rose Hall Town.
The club, the oldest in the township has a membership of mostly senior citizens and its compound was badly in need of a facelift after being not cleaned for close to a decade.
The young cricketers under their personal development programme weeded the entire large compound, cleaned drains, cut trees and did work on the fence, while they replaced the church’s bell cord and planted a fruit tree in the compound as a symbol to mark the club’s 20th Anniversary.
Elder of the Church, Mr Arnold King expressed gratitude to the club and its three cricket teams and noted that as a senior citizen he was delighted to see youths involved in charity work and community development, while congratulating the club for its role in moulding its members into positive role models.
Last Friday, members of the Club’s Over-35 Group and the Gizmos and Gadgets Under-23 Team were involved in a Charity Feeding Programme at the Area ‘H’ Ground.
Over 300 boxes of warm meals were shared out to less fortunate students attending schools in the township and members of the public. The feeding programme was sponsored by the Little Guyana Bake Shop of Liberty Avenue in New York.
The 20th anniversary celebrations will continue with the hosting of the Region 6 Educational Awards Scheme this weekend.
