PM interacts with Region 10 residents

– to address issues affecting their livelihood
THE Administration, through its Cabinet members continues to demonstrate open governance, notably through visits to communities, and to interact with citizens to have first- hand knowledge of their concerns.


On Saturday, Prime Minister Samuel Hinds visited Region Ten where he interacted with residents of several communities as he undertook a walkabout.

Mr. Hinds received a warm welcome from representatives of the Regional Democratic Council (RDC), and residents as he conducted his walked about. His main target, however, was the Mackenzie Market.

Stallholders have been voicing their concerns about the deplorable state of the building. While interacting with stallholders, the Prime Minister was apprised of many of their concerns, including a leaking building, need for better public sanitary facilities, and expansion of the facility.
The Prime Minister, upon listening to their concerns, assured that measures would be put in place to rectify the issues raised.

Other issues such as birth certificates, rehabilitation of a road at Blueberry Hill, water and mining opportunities were also addressed, at which the Prime Minister said the issues will be forwarded to the relevant ministries.
Mr. Hinds, who also holds the portfolio for Minister responsible for mining, also visited the old aluminum plant.

Later in the evening, accompanied by Horace James, Chief Executive Officer, LINMINE, he attended the launch of designer Joy Washington’s fashion line. The event at the Egbert Benjamin Conference Center, showcased over 60 pieces which ranged from beachwear, casual, and African and Indian wear. (GINA)
