HEAD of the Presidential Secretariat (HPS), Dr. Roger Luncheon has announced Cabinet, at its last week Tuesday meeting, gave its no-objection to a number of contracts worth a total of $1.149 billion in the agriculture, public works, housing and water sectors.
One contact is for the procurement of civil works on the East Black Bush Polder, Corentyne, Berbice control structures, valued $261.2 M.
Another award, of $91.5 M is for lot one and $95.5 million for lot two in the construction of roads and structures and the installation of pure water systems at Belle West.
One more similar contract in two lots is for $117.04M and $100.6M.
For the upgrade of roads at Onderneeming, in Region Three (West Demerara/Essequibo Islands), the award is for $81.1M and, for the construction of roads, structures and the installation of pure water systems at Number 76, Corentyne, Berbice, two lots were awarded for $112.5 M and $78.04 M.
An allocation of $106.1M was for upgrading at Block ‘D’, Plantation Bath, West Coast Berbice.
The sum of $17.9 M is for the improvement of river defence at Fort Island, along Essequibo River and an amount of $87M for the docking and repairs to the Transport and Harbours Department (T&HD) ferry boat, m.v. Malali.
