14 from Capoey graduate with new cooking skills

ANOTHER batch of trainees, 14 including one man, graduated, last week, from the cooking class, conducted by Mrs. Parbattie Singh at Johanna Cecelia Learning Resource Centre on Essequibo Coast.
The graduates were presented with certificates by the trainer, on completion of the five weeks course, during which they all learned how to cook with new skills.

In her charge to the members of the Capoey Development Group, Singh encouraged them to utilise their newly acquired knowledge to generate income for themselves and families.
The class started on August 5 and some of the dishes they learnt to prepare are fried rice, baked macaroni, cream potatoes, baked fish, peas and rice, rice pie, shepherd salad and fried chicken.
Toshoa of Capoey, Ms. Valarie De Younge, who was also in the class, thanked Singh for teaching them.
De Younge said she, herself, has learned a lot and will now be able to practice the newly acquired skills in her kitchen.
She said the community snackette, which was commissioned by People’s Progressive Party (PPP) General Secretary, Mr. Donald Ramotar, during his visit there last Wednesday, will be used to showcase various dishes prepared by the graduates during Heritage Day celebrations.
Chairman of Johanna Cecelia Development Group, Mr. Doodnauth Singh also exhorted the graduates to use their new skills for developing themselves and become better citizens.
Meanwhile, Mrs. Singh has started another class with the focus on cakes and pastry.
