Two Kaikan street murder suspects still in custody

POLICE ‘B’ Divison Commander, Assistant Commissioner George Vyphuis said, yesterday, that the two persons held since are still being questioned about the brutal murder of insurance company employee, Dexter Gaspar, at his Lot 2566 Kaikan Street, North Ruimveldt, Georgetown home.
Vyphuis said, however, that, after 72 hours have elapsed, the suspects may be released if enough evidence is not garnered.
The body of the victim was found Wednesday afternoon, by a male relative and a woman, in a bedroom of the house and the two were detained.
A yesterday Police press release said Gaspar’s mouth was gagged, his feet tied and there were marks of violence about his body, which is at Lyken Funeral Home awaiting a post mortem examination.
Before his death, Gaspar, who lived alone, was recently appointed to a supervisory position at Hand-in-Hand Insurance Company, where he had been employed for the past 10 years.
Police said there were no signs of forced entry to his house in which music was overheard and the television set was switched on.
Gaspar did a lot of youth work for Holy Spirit Roman Catholic Church, in North Ruimveldt, as well.
One year ago, his uncle, Garnett Woolford was murdered in the same house where his remains were found in the lower flat.
He had been fatally chopped and his killer is serving jail time.
