HEAD of the Presidential Secretariat Dr. Roger Luncheon, at a post-Cabinet news briefing yesterday, indicated that members of the Teaching Service Commission (2010/2013), and the Indigenous Peoples Commission will be sworn in by President Bharrat Jagdeo on September 13 and 15 respectively.
The ceremony which will be held in the Credentials Room, Office of the President will see the TSC members hold office for three years.
The twelve-member Commission includes:- Leila Ramson, Mohammad Khaleel Khan, Hanapatie Veeren, Alan Munroe, Mida Persaud and two ex-officio members; the Chief Education Officer in the Ministry of Education and a representative from the Guyana Teachers’ Union.
Meanwhile, the members of the Indigenous Peoples Commission includes:- Toshaos Yvonne Pearson, Marco Se Souza and Doreen Jacobis; David James, Matilda Saigo, Patricia Singh, George Simon, Gerald Gouveia, Damian Fernandes, James Singh, Father Malcolm Rodrigues and Norman Whittaker.
The members of the TSC will be responsible for disciplinary matters and appointments which include promotions of teachers countrywide, while the members of the Indigenous Peoples Commission will oversee the right and general matters as they pertain to Guyana’s first people.
