Two who discovered Kaikan street murder victim detained

POLICE have detained a man and a woman, who are in custody assisting with investigations into the brutal murder of well-known insurance company employee, Dexter Gaspar, at his Lot 2566 Kaikan Street, North Ruimveldt, Georgetown home.
The body of the victim was found Wednesday afternoon, by a male relative and a woman, in a bedroom of the house.

The two were held for questioning, Police reported yesterday, as they followed several leads.
A Police press release said yesterday that Gaspar’s mouth was gagged and his feet tied, with marks of violence about his body, which is at Lyken Funeral Home awaiting a post mortem examination.
Before his death Gaspar, who lived alone, was recently appointed to a supervisor position at Hand-in-Hand Insurance Company.
There were no signs of forced entry to his house from which music was being played and his television set was switched on.
His colleagues, curious because it was unlike Gaspar not to show up for work, decided to make enquiries about him after telephone calls to his phones went unanswered and were informed of his demise in a horrible manner, with his throat slit.
Scores of them, teary-eyed friends, relatives and neighbours watched as his corpse was removed, from where he lived, by undertakers on Wednesday night.
Gaspar had been employed with Hand-in-Hand for the past ten years and was described as a religious person, who loved music and did a lot of youth work for Holy Spirit Roman Catholic Church.
His mother and a sister are said to be residing overseas.
One year ago, Gaspar’s uncle, Garnett Woolford was murdered in the same house where his remains were found in the lower flat.
He had been fatally chopped, allegedly by a relative, who was charged for the crime and is serving jail time.
