Wife remanded…
A HUSBAND and wife shared different fates yesterday when they appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Beharry on a drug charge.
Lloyd Atkinson and Gwenlyn Atkinson (no address given) are charged with having, on September 6, been in possession of 803 grammes of cannabis (marijuana) in North West District, for the purpose of trafficking.
The man pleaded guilty to the offence and was sentenced to three years imprisonment and fined $10,000.
The woman pleaded not guilty and Defence Counsel Hukumchand failed to secure bail for her.
She was remanded to prison until September 14, after Police Inspector Stephen Telford, prosecuting, said cops, acting on information received, found the narcotic hidden under a bed.
