WITH another victory in the bag for Guyana’s top team, Alpha ‘The Hammer’ United this past Sunday, they now have a firm grip on the leader board of the Georgetown Football Federation (GFF) National Super League. The team who are yet to be defeated sank Victoria Kings 2-0 at the Georgetown Football Club (GFC) ground and moved on to 27 points, seven points clear of second-place runners, Rosignol United (20).
Alpha United have played 11 matches, eight of which they emerged victorious and the other were recorded as draws.
Sunday also saw four other teams romping to victories and jumping a few places in the points standing.
In the first match at the GFC ground, Sunburst Camptown needled Buxton United 1-0 in Linden at the Mackenzie Sports Complex (MSC) ground, Bakewell Topp XX whipped Liquid Gold 3-1 and Milerock prevailed over Seawall FC in a 2-1 final result.
At the Blairmont Community Centre (BCC) ground, Rosignol upset the Guyana Defence Force in a match that ended 3-1 to be pushed up to 20 points.
Sunburst Camptown hold third place  with 19 points ahead of Milerock who have 18 points while the Army team trail with 16 points.
Buxton (12) are ahead of Victoria Kings and Bakewell Topp XX who both have 11 points, Liquid Gold ten points and Seawall FC five.
The competition continues this Sunday with another five matches. At the MSC ground, Milerock play Rosignol United and Bakewell Topp XX go head-to-head with Alpha United, while at Uitvlugt Seawall challenge Sunburst Camptown.
At the Enmore ground Buxton battle with the Army team while Liquid Gold oppose Victoria Kings at Bartica.
Meanwhile, the GFF Female League continues this Sunday with a 16:00 h encounter at the GFC ground between tournament leaders Georgetown and East Coast.
Georgetown are ahead with eight points with just a one-point lead on Linden (7 points) while Rupununi are also in the race with six points, ahead of Bartica (4 points) and East Coast (1 point).
