The Guyana National Newspapers Ltd was one of the places of interest visited by a group of twelve pupils from six primary schools in the indigenous communities of Region Eight – Potaro/Siparuni, last week, as part of an educational treat for Amerindian Heritage Month.
The children, on their first visit to the capital city, were drawn from Kato Primary, Kanapang Primary, Itabac Primary, Waipa Primary, Chering Primary and Kamana Primary.
The group arrived in Georgetown by aircraft last Sunday under the charge of teacher at Kato Primary School, Ms. Karen Abraham, and was accommodated at the Amerindian Hostel on Princes Street.
Other places of interest visited were Parliament Buildings, St. George’s Cathedral, the CARICOM Secretariat, the National Convention Centre, University of Guyana, the National Library, Cheddi Jagan Research Centre and Heritage Home, the National Communications Network (NCN), Guyana Sugar Terminal and Banks DIH Ltd – Thirst Park.
After a rewarding and well-spent week they were scheduled to depart Georgetown for Region Eight at the weekend.
