Drug bust at CJIA

– 5 kilograms 870 grams of cocaine found in two suitcases
– outgoing American passenger arrested

A male American passenger is currently in custody after the Police Narcotics Branch intercepted two suitcases with cocaine at the Cheddi  Jagan International Airport, Timehri on Thursday.
The suitcases were intercepted around 12:10 hrs as Police ranks were observing the scanning machine during checks of an outgoing flight to John F. Kennedy (JFK) International Airport in New York.
Police said the  two suitcases were searched and a total of  5 kilograms 870 grams of cocaine were found.
The  male American passenger is in police custody assisting with the investigations.
