TYRONE Kacey Rowe alias ‘Cobra’, for whom a wanted bulletin was issued recently, surrendered to Police yesterday about 09:30h. A senior officer, at Brickdam Police Station, had, earlier, received a telephone call from a news reporter, who said members of the media were with the fugitive who wanted to surrender.
Acting promptly on the information, the Police went to D’Urban Street and Louisa Row, also in Georgetown, where Rowe, accompanied by pardoned treason accused Marlk Benschop, was arrested and taken into custody.
The detained man is expected to be questioned about a series of robberies and murder but he denied being involved in any such crimes.
A Police operation targeting Rowe was mounted in Le Repentir Cemetery early yesterday morning but he slipped through that dragnet and gave himself up, fearing that he would be killed if captured in a manhunt.
The August 30 bulletin, with his photograph was the second, following one on July 6, shortly after he was a suspect in the killing of two men who were fatally shot during a robbery at Plaisance, East Coast Demerara.
