IMRAN Ali, 28, of 406 Section ‘C’ Block ‘Y’ Golden Grove, East Bank Demerara, was yesterday remanded to prison by Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson on charges of dangerous driving and driving under the influence of alcohol. He pleaded not guilty to the charge, which stated that on August 28, on the Grove Public Road he drove motor car HB 8501 in a manner dangerous to the public.
Also on the same day, he drove the motor car while he was under the influence of alcohol to such an extent that he was incapable of controlling the vehicle. He pleaded guilty to this charge.
Ali was denied bail for the dangerous driving charge and will return to Providence court for trial on September 6. He was fined $50,000 or 12 months imprisonment on the other charge of driving under the influence of alcohol.
