OGLE Airport Inc. will be conducting a ‘Live Fire and Mass Casualty Exercise’, under the direction of visiting Firefighting Instructor and Technical Rescue Consultant Mr. Jack Mc Govern at noon tomorrow and concluding with the Minister of Home Affairs, Mr. Clement Rohee, signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with OAI covering the operations of the Guyana Fire Service at Ogle Airport.
The purpose of the exercise is to test the capabilities of Ogle Airport, including the Guyana Fire Service operations at the Airport, to respond to a plane crash at the airport involving victims, either seriously injured or killed from the crash and/or from a fire resulting from the crash.
All airport personnel and aircraft operators at the Airport will be involved in the exercise, as well as all external agencies who would be expected to respond to a real life situation such as the Guyana Police Force, the Guyana Civil Aviation Agency, the Civil Defence Commission, the Guyana Defence Force and all of the city’s public and private hospitals and visiting officials from the Cheddi Jagan International Airport.
At the conclusion of the exercise, the Minister of Home Affairs will formally sign the MOU between the Guyana Fire Service and Ogle Airport Inc., and this will be followed by a “hot wash” critique of the exercise conducted by Mr. Jack Mc Govern.
A statement on the event from Public Relations Consultant Mr. Kit Nascimento said Ogle Airport will be closed from midday tomorrow to facilitate the event.
