BCB and RHTYSC congratulate Campbell

THE Executive Committee of the Berbice Cricket Board (BCB) and the Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club (RHTYSC) would like to extend congratulations to Berbice and Rose Hall Town Metro female cricketer, Ms Shemaine Campbell, on her selection as the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the just concluded West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) female tournament.
Both the BCB and RHTYSC are proud of Ms Campbell’s performance and are confident that this is just the first of many major awards that she would win in her career.
This is the second MVP title to be won by a Berbician in a Caribbean cricket tournament, following Devendra Bishoo’s MVP award in the Caribbean T20 tournament which was won by Guyana.
Together with Jonathan Foo’s man-of-the-match performances, they confirm the current high standard of the game in the Berbice area as the BCB commits itself totally to the development of the game among female players and would shortly announce some new and exciting programmes directed towards female cricket.
Campbell’s talent was evident for everyone to see from a very young age and the BCB is proud to be associated with guiding her throughout her career. Congrats also to her club, RHTYSC which, together with the Albion Cricket Club, continues to produce high quality players for the county.
It is the hope of the BCB that young aspiring female cricketers would follow in the footsteps of Shemaine Campbell and use her as a positive role model, and encouraged Campbell to keep her feet firmly on the ground, to remember that at 17 years her career is just beginning and that discipline, dedication and continued hard work are the only pathways to success.
The congratulatory message from RHTYSC stated the management and membership of the RHTYSC especially her team-mates of the Pepsi Under-19, Bakewell Second Division, Gizmos and Gadgets First Division and Metro Female teams would like to offer profound congratulations to Campbell on her recent achievement.
“Shemaine has made all her club mates at the RHTYSC very proud and her performances underline the rich pool of talent that exists at the club as a result of an aggressive coaching programme at all levels.
Three of the club’s senior cricketers would soon be in South Africa with the Guyana team, four females were in the national team (Campbell, Erva Giddings, Melanie Henry and Nikita Toney) while three were also in the national Under-17 team.
“Her performance is not surprising to us at the RHTYSC, because we are all aware of her talent, commitment, discipline and determination to be the best female player that Guyana ever had, while it was a result of hours upon hours of sheer correcting faults in her game.
Over the last year, Shemaine became the first Guyanese female cricketer to score a century at the inter-county level, for Guyana at the junior level and now her 100 not out makes her the first to score a century at the senior level.
At 17 years old, Shemaine is also perhaps the youngest player to have captained a senior national cricket team and we are confident that under her leadership in the future, Guyana would dominate female cricket in the Caribbean.
The club would like to encourage her to remain committed to our proven formula for success and to be a role model for all her peers.
The RHTY&SC would also like to acknowledge the contribution of our sponsors to the development of Shemaine’s cricketing career especially the management and staff of Metro Office and Computer Supplies.
Over the last three years, Metro has been the official sponsor of our female team and has invested heavily into the development of all our female cricketers. Special mention must be made of Mr Taajnauth Jadunauth and Ms Avie Lindee of the company for their support of Shemaine’s career and we share her success with them.”
