Police investigating fatal accident at Bath, suspected electrocution at Rosignol
THE police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of David Smartt, 19 years, of Welcome Street, Rosignol, Berbice.
The Police, in a statement, said that at about 14:30h Monday, the body of David Smartt was found at his work place at the Ousman and Sons Sawmill at Rosignol. He is suspected to have been electrocuted.
The police are awaiting the results of a post-mortem examination.
The police are also investigating a fatal accident that occurred at about 07:00h yesterday at Bath Public Road, West Coast Berbice and which resulted in the death of pedal cyclist Rajpaul Jagroop, 47 years, of the same village.
Investigations revealed that Jagroop, who was a Neighbourhood Police, was riding his bicycle along the roadway when it is alleged that he swerved into the path of a mini bus proceeding in the same direction and was struck down.
The Police said he was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he was pronounced Dead on Arrival.
The driver of the mini bus is in police custody assisting with the investigations.
