Kishore wins COURTS Medal Play golf tourney

TEENAGE golfer Avinda Kishore carted off the third annual Courts Guyana Inc. Medal Play golf tournament   in tough playing conditions caused by overnight rain last Saturday at the Lusignan golf course. Kishore who recently won the Safeway Security tournament continued to show top form this season in recording a net score of 73 from a gross 85 playing off a 12 handicap as the course played tricky due to its soggy state.
Imran Khan secured the second position with a net score of 74 from a gross 79 playing off a 5 handicap while Bolaram Deo squeezed past Mike Mangal for third spot from a countback after both golfers ended with net scores of 75.
Deo recorded a gross score of 90 from a handicap 15, while Mangal had a gross score of 83 from a handicap 8.
Khan’s gross score of 74 was the lowest for the day.
Newcomer Rawle Moore won the prize for Nearest to the pin at the number 8 hole.
In an emotional presentation ceremony, members of Lusignan Golf Club said farewell to its President and outgoing Country Manager Lester Alvis who leaves Guyana on Tuesday for a new appointment in St. Lucia.
Alvis thanked COURTS for sponsoring the tournament for the third year and encouraged the local furniture giants to continue its support for the Lusignan Golf Club.
Newly appointed COURTS Country Manager Clyde De Haas said that his company will continue its sponsorship of the tournament.
“We are on board and will ensure that the Courts tournament will be on the Club’s annual calendar,” he added.
De Haas also expressed appreciation to Alvis for his contribution to golf in Guyana during his tour of duty here.
Also present at the presentation ceremony were COURTS Marketing Director Molly Hassan and members of the Lusignan Golf Club.
