THE Progressive Youth Organisation (PYO) on the Essequibo Coast held a hike from Anna Regina Car Park to Feather Beach, Red lock (a village some six miles aback Anna Regina) Saturday last.
The hike which gave youths an opportunity to make new friends and explore areas along the route was held under the theme “Promoting a healthy life style in a low carbon environment.”
Before starting on the hike the groups of 30 youths were encouraged by Region Two Chairman Mr. Alli Baksh to work as a team to promote the theme of the hike. The Chairman said team spirit is important in the success of any event.
After trekking the eight miles journey to Feather Beach, youths became actively involved in swimming soft ball cricket and interacted with members of the community on various topics of interest.
Red Lock is a village that is bordered by the Mainstay-Whyaka Amerindian Community and Lima Sands Housing area.
