The Ministry of Public Works and Communications has successfully restored 5.5 miles of the 6.5 miles Hunt Oil stretch on the Linden to Lethem road.
Minister of Transport and Hydraulics, Robeson Benn stated that the one mile outstanding is approximately 300 feet of critical area and the Ministry is hoping to complete repairs within three days, provided the weather is conducive.
He noted that currently, pickups are traversing the area, transporting passengers and essential cargo.
After the one mile area is restored, trucks can then travel the route.
Minister Benn highlighted that the Lethem power plant has received a week’s supply of fuel from the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) Sky Van shuttle.
He further noted that there is no food shortage in Lethem.
Owing to excessive heavy rainfall in hinterland areas for several weeks, the Linden to Lethem road was damaged in certain sections.
The Ministry was able to repair some of the areas, including Cork Wood.
