– Delinquent customers urged to pay before August 20
Guyana Water Incorporated, GWI, the nation’s supplier of water and sanitation services, will be intensifying its disconnection campaign for water service on the West Bank Demerara, Region Three effective Friday, August 20, 2010. Areas identified for disconnection are Patentia, Canal #1, Canal #2, Parfaite Harmonie and Good Fortuin. National Revenue Manager GWI, Earle Aaron who is heading the initiative said that customers who do not pay their arrears for water charges before August 20 will be disconnected and that no “stays” will be issued on the day of disconnection since adequate advance notice was provided. According to Aaron, “announcements will be made throughout the five areas over the weekend to highlight the campaign. Outbound calls by the GWI’s Call Centre will also be made to customers advising them to make payments before the disconnection date.”
Prior to the disconnection exercise, the Company will facilitate several community outreach events in the areas targeted for disconnection. GWI’s Chief Executive, Yuri Chandisingh, as well as other senior Company officials, will be visiting these areas on Wednesday, August 18 and Thursday, August 19, 2010 between 14hrs and 18hrs.
“It is important that we allow delinquent customers to make all billing queries prior to the commencement of the exercise,” stated Chandisingh. “Our team will be on the ground to assist all customers with billing issues”.
GWI customers with arrears are urged to visit any GWI Customer Service Office or any of the following locations listed here to make payments before August 20, 2010: Republic Bank, GBTI, Post Office, Bill Express, Bill Direct and Citizens Bank.
