A modern state-of-the-art five storey supermarket is nearing completion at Charity.
Owner of the structure, Managing Director of the Alphonso Group of Companies, Mr Alfro Alphonso, wants the supermarket to start offering services which will be of international standards before the start of the Christmas season.
When the Guyana Chronicle visited Charity on Wednesday, it was observed that actual construction works on the structure is completed, and painting, along with electrical works, was in progress.
The shopping complex is the first such structure in the region.
The complex which has cost the Alfro Alphonso Group of Companies some $400M, will allow Essequibians an opportunity to shop in a supermarket of international standards, with elevators connecting the floors.
The supermarket will also provide employment for some 65 persons.
The Afro Alphonso group of Companies has invested heavily in the Charity area in the line of manufacturing (Golden Brook Cooking Oil) ice for fishing, processing fish for the local and overseas markets, a gas station, an international restaurant, hotel and bar, a television station and the ACS General Store.
