I read in another section of the press that DDL received a special award for their Annual Report. Can you please say if this report included the number of Guyanese killed as a result of consuming DDL R-U-M (Ruin Unto Man) > I don’t suppose so. We honour (and give Doctorates) to the brewers of the substance that is responsible for most deaths in Guyana. Who cares? The Health Minister made this observation recently; so I ask, what is government doing about the scourge of alcoholism in Guyana? I suggest alcohol education programmes, funded by these Rum Producers, and a warning about the dangers of alcohol printed on the bottles.
Whilst some people’s pockets are over-flowing, others are dying. Men are becoming impotent, Cirrhosis is rampant, women are forced to do all kinds of things to get a dollar to feed the kids, Children are absent from school because mom and dad are drunk, Fatal road accidents are rising every day, suicide is now a fashion……. and I could go on and on tabulating the disaster of alcoholism in Guyana.
The Health Minister has just awakened. I hope he gives a wake up call to his colleagues. Some victims may not even be able to vote when the time comes.
Never the less, congratulations DDL! Keep up the good job and we may soon have another rum doctor in the land.
