POLICE are investigating an armed robbery that occurred at about 19:30h on Saturday, during which minibus conductor Wayne Forde, 25 years, of Roxanne Burnham Gardens, Georgetown, was attacked and robbed by a man armed with a handgun. He has been arrested and the firearm and stolen cash recovered by the police. Investigations revealed that the armed man joined the Route 40 minibus at Sheriff Street and requested to get off at Vlissengen Road and Garnett Street, Kitty. As he came out of the vehicle the armed man held up the conductor and took away $7,000 in cash from him and ran away.
He was pursued by the conductor and the bus driver who were joined by ranks of a mobile police patrol that was in the vicinity and subsequently caught in a yard at Station Street, Kitty.
The .32 revolver along with three matching rounds and the stolen cash were recovered by the police. The suspect is in police custody and will be charged shortly.
