THE Guyana Police Force (GPF), cognisant of concerns being expressed, yesterday explained that those ranks who received awards and incentives at Anniversary Awards Ceremony on Wednesday were a selected representative group decided upon for the occasion. Under the circumstances, the majority of ranks highlighted were those who had performed outstandingly in the frontline fight against crime, a press statement said.
“This does not mean that only ranks performing such duties are considered for awards,” it stated.
The statement said, contrary to the perception that Police ranks performing duties in offices and other locations are overlooked for the awards, the Force pointed out that a significant number of them are included in the overall total of 947 who were awarded.
The GPF said the process of identifying awardees, based on their work performance, allows for the inclusion of ranks at all levels within all divisions and branches and those who did not receive their awards during the official ceremony have already commenced receiving through the Force Finance Office.
