ARSENE Wenger lamented the constant “noise” of the transfer window as the speculation linking Cesc Fabregas with Barcelona refuses to die down. The Arsenal manager has had to tolerate the coverage of the Spanish champions’ pursuit of his captain since the end of the last Premier League season.
Since then, Fabregas has publicly stated he would be open to a move if the Gunners agreed to one while several Barca players and club officials have all consistently reiterated their desire to sign the World Cup winner despite Arsenal rejecting a £29 million bid then refusing to enter into further negotiations.
Wenger was philosophical about the saga following his side’s friendly win over Austrian side Neusiedl.
“It is only noise,” he said. “In our job we have to deal with what we can master. What we cannot influence is not to worry about.
“We have learned about that and I believe that in a big club you have to live with those kind of noises without being disturbed.
“I am very happy with Cesc and we are all very happy at the club with Cesc. He is a very important player for us, he is our captain and we have worked very hard (for him) to be the future of our team and that is why we are always adamant about (not) letting him go.” (Eurosport)
