THE National Dance Company of Guyana and NZINGHA Performing Arts Company of ACDA (African Cultural and Development Association) will stage ‘An evening of African Culture’ at the National Cultural Centre (NCC) tomorrow at 19:30 h. The two groups collaborated because they were each scheduled to host separate shows over the weekend but decided to merge the performances in the public interest.
Also performing at the NCC tomorrow is recently crowned Miss Guyana Universe, Tamika Henry and her designer, Mr. Sydney Francois. Francois will be the guest of Anetha Daniels who is to show off some of her designs with her Ms. Gillion Bernard of London, England.
The event is specially for the benefit of those who will be unable to visit the National Park for the August 1, Emancipation Day celebrations.
During the concert, 30 participants from the ACDA/ Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) Youth Leadership Programme will be presented with certificates.
Winner of the initial Star Guyana, Lisa Punch will spearhead the NZINGHA section of the concert and Basil Bradshaw the fashion segment.
In its second year of existence, NZINGHA was founded by Mr. Eric Phillips, its current Director and is managed by Mr. Vernon Griffith.
NZINGHA, which succeeded Phillips’ previous effort in Dance Alive, the 26 half hour television shows on HIV/AIDS, has, as its main goal, the development of African cultural products.
