WITH respect to Eric Phillip’s letter, “Ruling class racist ideology”…(SN30/06) I make two comments.
Eric bemoans that Obama would never be elected President of Guyana because of racial considerations. May I remind him that the same will apply in most parts of the world and particularly in Africa. In Black Africa he is regarded as merely doing the white man’s work and in Arab Africa there is equally no chance for him with some Arab leaders like Dr Mohamed Zwahiri calling him ‘house slave’. So Eric shouldn’t upset himself with our poor dear land of Guyana.
Secondly, Eric quotes Anil Nandalall, who speaking of his Indian indentured forbears said that “they came here as beggars and today, (their descendants) are kings.” Nandalall must be speaking, probably, of his own grandparents who were beggars since the immigration records show all other indentures as workers and not beggars.
The same applies in most parts of the world
