Guyana snatch share of points as Dominica lose opener to Aruba

ROSEAU, Dominica (CMC) – Aruba claimed full points over host country Dominica to move to the top of the points table in the 2010 Caribbean Football Union (CFU) Boys’ Under-17 tournament. In the second match of the doubleheader on match day one on Tuesday, Aruba defeated Dominica 2-1. Skipper Jefferson Vegas Morales gave his team a 1-0 half-time lead when he headed home in the 28th minute of play.
Derrick Kock made it 2-0 when he converted from inside the penalty area in the 75th minute.
Seven minutes later, Kerdell Reid pulled one back for the home team, but it proved to be too little too late.
Earlier in the first encounter, Guyana came from two goals down to earn a 2-2 draw against Netherlands Antilles, with Liandro Martis and Quinston Bartholomeus scoring for the Dutch.
Guyana’s resurgence started when Pernell Lashley pulled one back just before halftime and three minutes into the second half, they drew level courtesy of an own goal which came off the boots of the Dutch captain Shuremy Felomin.
