Sewer line breakage…

GWI undertaking repairs at Carmichael/New Market Streets
GUYANA Water Inc. (GWI) yesterday announced that it has started an investigation into the breakage of a sewer line at the junction of Carmichael and New Market Streets, in Georgetown.
The utility said the rupture occurred early
yesterday afternoon on a six-inch pressure pipe and spread but resulted in no damage to property or injury to anyone.
GWI said teams are currently assessing the damage with the aim of effecting all repairs in the swiftest manner possible.
GWI Sanitation Manager, Mr. Rensford Joseph said: “A full investigation is required to determine the cause of the breakage. However, GWI will be working along with all relevant authorities to ensure the area is sanitised and repairs made to the damaged road.”
He offered GWI apologies to the public within the immediate environs for any inconvenience or discomfort caused.
