WHEN CORBIN said that he would not be running for the presidency in the 2011 election, and would not step down as the leader of the party, what does he mean?
Corbin would undermine the role of the newly-elected presidential candidate if he stays on as the leader of the party, as that person would only be nothing more than a mere puppet to him. Does the party’s membership accept this decision by Corbin? If so, then the presidential candidate would have to do as he is told by Corbin, because the PNC’s decisions come from of the highest forum within the party. Corbin would be the puppeteer and the presidential candidate of the PNC would be the puppet. Corbin would be the shadow president. Now, if Corbin wants to give someone a chance then he should step down completely, and he could still be a member of the executive committee of the party.
Corbin is talking about finding a presidential candidate who would win the confidence of the people at the 2011 elections: Now where in the PNC or in any of the opposition parties would you find such a person? All of them have proven themselves to be nothing more than glory seekers. Some of these characters find themselves in the news ever so often, just to get some free publicity.
What does Corbin mean by ‘not running for presidency?’
