Shotokan Karatekas Bobb & Keziah continue outstanding overseas performances

SENSEI Troy Bobb, who is the Director of the Harpy Eagles Martial Arts Academy, and recently promoted 3rd Kyu Brown Belt, Teri Keziah, of the Uitvlugt Shotokan Karate Club recently returned from a campaign in the United States of America where they collectively competed in four competitions.
Keziah made her mark in The United States Karate Alliance National Tournament, which was held in Albuquerque, New Mexico, March 25-28, where she competed in the 16-18 years category in which she came second place in the Continuous Sparring category and third place in the Traditional Kata category.
The other category that she competed in was the Weapons category in which she finished fourth place.
Apart from being promoted from a Blue belt to a 3rd Kyu Brown belt her performances also earned her the right to compete at next year’s edition of the event which will be held in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Keziah revealed that this isn’t her first taste of victory overseas as she managed to score 1 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze medals in the 15-17 age group at last year’s Pan-Caribbean Championships.
Bobb, who disclosed that he is the seven-time winner of the World Championship at the United States Karate Alliance National Tournament and also the holder of the esteem of National Champion in that country, competed in the 35-39 years age group. He placed first in the Musical Form and Weapons categories and went on to place fourth in the Traditional Kata in the Open age group.
He also placed first in the Musical Form and Weapons categories of the Master Tourist National Tournaments which were held in Atlantic City on June 30.
Bobb’s other performance was in the National Champion Tournament which was held in Flushen, Manhattan, New York on May 28 & 29 and he repeated his previous good showing by placing first in both the Weapons and Traditional Kata categories. He also competed in the Musical Form category and managed to place second.
In speaking with the outstanding duo Chronicle Sport was able to ascertain that their sights are now set on the 4th National Championships which will be held at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall on August 8 and the Pan-Caribbean Championships which are to be held in Trinidad and Tobago, October 8-9.
