HEAD of the Presidential Secretariat (HPS), Dr. Roger Luncheon announced, Thursday, that Cabinet has approved seven contracts valued G$397M.
He told his weekly post-Cabinet media briefing, in Office of the President (OP), Shiv Chanderpaul Drive, Georgetown, that one is in the Housing and Water Sector, two in the Agriculture Sector and the other four in the Public Works Sector.
In the Housing and Water Sector a US$209,500 undertaking is expected to facilitate the supply and delivery of aluminum sulphate and alum for Guyana Water Inc. (GWI).
One of two in the Agriculture Sector requires G$15.6M for the construction of a revetment at Corentyne, Berbice and the other G$15.4M to build an embankment and structures at Palmyra on Wakenaam Island, Essequibo River.
The remaining four are for building sea and river defence and road rehabilitation.
One of them, worth G$18.9M, is to rehabilitate the earthen embankment from Wellington Park to Maida, Corentyne.
Another, of $53.7M value, is to construct 100 metres of rip-rap river defence at Maryville on Leguan Island, also along Essequibo River.
Rehabilitation between Number 77 Village and Line Path, Corentyne, as well, is to cost G$16.9M and the largest deal, entailing expenditure of G$235.5M, is to rehabilitate and construct roads in Linden, Upper Demerara River.
