Tyson says it will be a rough night for London
“EVERYONE knows I am the big bad Debbie Tyson who has been defeating girls all the time, both in the ring and on the road too and to some extent, boys on the road as well.
“While I do respect her talks, as everyone has the right to say what they wish to say at a time like this, at the end of the day, she will be the loser.”

Those were the words of Debbie Tyson who is set to face Pauline London in a four-round encounter at the sixth edition of the Guyana Boxing Board of Control (GBBC)/Guyana Amateur Boxing Association (GABA) ProAm Friday Night Fights (FNF) at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall two weeks from today.
The two exchanged heated words at the contract-signing ceremony last week, with London promising to leave Tyson bloodied and bruised, while Tyson challenged her opponent to put her money where her mouth is, making it a winner-take-all fight for both pugilists purse.
The 42-year-old Tyson is a mother of two and after making an impressive start to her career on April 25, 2009 when she knocked out Avon Scotland, she suffered a majority decision loss to Sharon ‘The Boom’ Ward at the CASH.
That loss forced her into a self-imposed exile from the fistic sport and even though she would not venture into the squared circle to face anyone, she would find herself in the Andrew ‘SixHead’ Lewis gym each afternoon working out with a view to an impressive comeback.
“I am feeling confident about this fight that at the end of the night the referee, whoever he is, will be raising my hands. In fact, this fight is an easy one for me with no problems, one of the easiest I have had in my short career,’ boasted Tyson.
When asked how her training was coming for the fight, Tyson declared she had a minor setback when she came down with the flu, but that would not deter her from teaching London a lesson on the July 30.
“Even though I am under the weather with the flu, I would will myself to get up and go to the gym and do my thing. One day I left my coach Lennox Daniels surprised when he saw my work ethics even though I was sick and he said London is in for a battle.
She is right about one thing. I am not ‘The Boom’, I am Debbie Tyson, a fighter who is faster than she and speed is power, so she better beware of what she is saying, as she has another thing coming. She bit off more than she can chew and she will pay for it dearly.”
“I will be representing myself as I always do and I do hope that she turns up to fight and represent her mouth. In boxing, anyone can say anything at any given time before matching gloves in the ring and she is no different.
“She has a lot of talks and once she can hold down a crowd, she will continue to ramble on about what she would and would not do to her opponent, demanding attention through her empty bluffs. But I do my talking in the ring and it will be no different for her when we meet. In fact it will be a rough night for her, as she will be punished not only for her mouth, but the inability to back it up.”
“I am going out there to box as well as show the public that at my age, I still possess the technique and the ability to demand my respect in the ring from those who refuse to give it and I would like to urge boxing fans to come out and witness Pauline London being punished by Debbie Tyson for her mouth and the empty bluffs that flow from it,” added Tyson.
Other fights on the professional side of the card, which is being sponsored jointly by Courts (Guyana) Limited, Digicel and Ansa McAl and held under the blessings of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport, will see Edmond De Clou face Troy Lewis, Anthony Augustine match gloves with Kurt Best and Mark Austin go up against Shawn Pile.
