Minister of Home Affairs, Clement Rohee, Tuesday met with 15 Cadet Officers recently graduated from the Standard Officers Course No.42, at his Brickdam office, where he urged them to perform their duties to the best of their ability.
“We have to find a blend between the qualified and enthusiastic, the more experienced and sober-minded, to ensure that the goals and objectives are met with the highest standard, and with performance, as those raise the credibility of the Guyana Police Force,” Minister stated.
He added that leadership plays an integral part of their duty; and as cadets and members of the Force, it is expected that they would discharge their responsibilities with astute leadership.
Minister Rohee advised them to continue to follow the high standards of the Force, as tremendous sacrifice was made by fellow ranks, who laid its foundation.
He congratulated them for assuming the new responsibility assigned to them by the Commissioner of Police.
The GPF topped the Standards Officers Course No. 42, conducted at the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) Base Camp Stephenson, Timehri, for the first time in its history.
This is the third group of Cadets to complete the course, which is also part of a development programme aimed at strengthening the Police Force.
The syllabus of the course included an intense programme of military skills and tactics, rigorous physical fitness, team activities designed to promote stamina and group spirit, leadership and command methods, management techniques, military law and national policy.
