Alleged village nuisance charged with threatening behaviour

THIRTY-one-year old Randolph Abrams of lot 47 West Kendren Mahaicony, East Coast Demerara was charged with threatening behaviour when he appeared at the Mahaicony Magistrates Court. According to police, on Wednesday 23 June, he made use of threatening behaviour to one Allister Chapman.
He pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Attorney- at- law Harrichand Mahadeo, who represented the defendant in his bail application, told the court that his client is married with two children, ages one and four, and that he is gainfully employed as a miner and asked the court for bail at a reasonable sum.
However, Mr. Joel Ali for the prosecution, requested that bail be denied since the defendant is a flight risk, may tamper with the witness and that there are numerous complaints against him of similar nature of behaviour at the police station.
Attorney Mahadeo then interjected and told the court that his client could not be a flight risk, since he is not the owner of a passport. The attorney further added that his client has no previous matter engaging the courts.
Abrams was then placed on thirty thousand dollars bail by Magistrate Haymant Ramdhani.
He is scheduled to return to court on July 7 when the trial is expected to continue.
