Suspected suicide at Stewartville…

Boy found hanging from roof died of strangulation
– according to Post Mortem

A POST MORTEM examination, on the body of 14-year-old David Harris, who was found hanging from the roof of a shed at his parents’ Stewartville, West Coast Demerara home on Monday, established that the suspected suicide died of strangulation.

His mother, Desiree Harris made the disclosure after the autopsy was done at West Demerara Regional Hospital yesterday morning.
Commenting on  the thought that her son had committed suicide, the sobbing woman said, before she broke down and wept bitterly: “I never expected that from him. I gave my life to Christ and would talk to my children and pray.”
David, the sixth of seven children born to parents, David, who lives in Suriname and Desiree, was a student of Stewartville Secondary School and, through his love of bicycles, spent much of his spare time repairing them for villagers and earning for himself.
On Monday morning, around 09:00 h, one of his sisters went downstairs to empty garbage and was shocked to find her brother dangling with his tongue protruding from his mouth.
While relatives maintained that they have no idea why David would want to end his life, they said they could only recall that, earlier in the morning, he had, unusually, refused to take his turn at praying during devotions.
He will be buried in Stewartville Cemetery on Saturday, following a thanksgiving service at Leonora Assembly of God Church, starting at 15:00 h.
