THE recently released United States report on the issue of Trafficking in Persons (TIP) in Guyana should be frowned upon and taken with a grain of salt as Guyana has over the past few years done its utmost to address this problem. This is something which the report does not acknowledge.
As the Ministers of Human Services and Home Affairs pointed out on Monday, their respective Ministries have undertaken quite a number of sensitization campaigns and other results oriented programmes to help root out this problem in Guyana over the past year.
We need to remember too that Guyana is far different than the first world of America and that we are a poor country with limited resources, and how we tackle problems are far different and would sometimes not yield the same results as others.
TIP report should be frowned upon
