Persons suffer minor injuries in head-on collision

Several persons, including three children, escaped with minor injuries yesterday morning following a two vehicle collision at Mon Repos Public Road, East Coast Demerara.
An eyewitness, Alan Persaud, told the Guyana Chronicle that the two motor cars, one heading up the East Coast Demerara, while the other was proceeding to the city, collided head-on.
He said the car, which was speeding up the East Coast, overtook another vehicle and slammed into the other car, which was heading in the opposite direction.
That speeding car flipped over before it landed on its wheels. The two passengers and the driver escaped with minor lacerations about the body.
In the other car, the driver, two women and two toddlers, were all saved from serious injuries.
The accident occurred at about 11:40h yesterday in the vicinity of Mon Repos Market and vendors reported that one of the cars was speeding.
The police were summoned and both cars were towed away to the Beterverwagting Police Station as investigations continue.
