PM attends exhibition in honour of Walter Rodney

“Art in Resistance” is the theme of the exhibition put on by the Guyana United Artists Association, in commemoration of the death of Dr Walter Rodney.
Prime Minister Samuel Hinds Tuesday had  a first hand look at the way Guyanese artists portrayed Dr. Rodney’s life and vision.
The celebration of Rodney’s life through art is on display at the Venezuelan Institute for Culture and Cooperation, New Garden Street, Queenstown.
Venezuelan Ambassador to Guyana, Dr. Dario Morandy, said that the space dedicated to the exhibition is one that was given to Guyanese art and artists.

Anastasia Ally, of the Guyana United Artists Association, said that for more than 13 years, exhibitions of this nature have been ongoing, facilitated by the Venezuelan embassy, the most recent being in honour of Simon Bolivar.
“Art in Resistance”, the celebration of the life of Dr. Walter Anthony Rodney, was mounted in association with the Walter Rodney Commemorative Committee. The Committee has organised several other activities to commemorate the death of Dr. Rodney.
Dr. Walter Rodney, Founder of the Working People’s Alliance, died on June 13, 1980. He was 58. (GINA)
