THREE men were in Police custody yesterday, after being nabbed with the assistance of public-spirited citizens, following a Sunday night robbery at Hyde Park, Timehri, East Bank Demerara.
The victim, miner Daniel Higgins was walking along Hyde Park Public Road  about 21:15h, when he was attacked by two men, one of whom was armed with a gun and the other with a chopper.

The robbers stole two gold chains Higgins was wearing and escaped in a waiting motor car.
But Higgins contacted his brother who chased after the getaway vehicle that was punctured at the junction of the East Bank Demerara Public Road and Soesdyke/Linden Highway.
An alarm was raised and the Police, helped by public-spirited individuals, responded, resulting in the arrest of the trio but one man managed to escape.
The jewels stolen from Higgins and a toy gun were found in the possession of the apprehended men, who hail from East Ruimveldt and Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown.
Motor car PHH 2309 has also been detained by the Police, a release said.
Meanwhile, in another robbery, about 07:30h on Monday, two men, one armed with a shotgun, entered the home of businessman Maurice Sookraj, at Betsy Ground, Canje, Berbice, from where they robbed him of jewellery, $150,000 cash, a desktop computer and a mini-stereo set, before escaping.
Police said, acting promptly on the report, they confronted a suspect on a dam at Betsy Ground, but managed to flee.
The Police, later, searched the same suspect’s home where they found a sawn-off 12-gauge shotgun with 18 cartridges, a crow bar, a knife, a black mask with eye holes and a black wig.
Information received led to a separate search of an abandoned house in the vicinity, where the desktop computer was retrieved and a bag with three pounds of cannabis (marijuana) discovered.
