Justices of the Peace congratulate Professor Dabydeen on his ambassadorial appointment

WE the members of the Guyana Justices of the Peace and Commissioners of Oaths to Affidavits Association wish to congratulate Professor David Dabydeen on his appointment as ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to the People’s Republic of China. Dr. Dabydeen is currently the Professor at the University of Warwick in England, where he specialised in 18th to 19th Century Caribbean and Black British culture and history.

He also served as the ambassador/permanent delegate to UNESCO since 1997. Dr. Dabydeen is a well known and respected scholar and among his many literary accomplishments, he has won several rewards, including the Guyana Prize for Literature. He also wrote texts on 19th Century Guyana which deal with, for the first time, Chinese migrants to Guyana.

We are proud to see that such a distinguished son of the soil will be representing Guyana at the most populous state on earth.

We would also like to welcome the new High Commissioner from New Zealand to Guyana Mr. Andrew Needs. He indicated that there will be close contact with Guyana on policy matters affecting developing nations such as climate change, role of the G 20, and the production of more food for the world’s growing populations.
