IT is evident that ‘Ghosts’ or ‘Zombies’ have taken over the letter pages of the Kaieteur News. This is a bit strange given that your entity continuously requests information validating the existence of contributors yet allows itself to be overrun by these ‘Nightmare on Elm Street’ poltergeists. The latest addition to this all exclusive club is Aleem Baksh whose outpourings to date are reek with miasmic matters. This particular name struck me because I hold close relations with a person sharing the same name, that person is a trader who spends more time in Panama than Guyana and has very little time for letter writing. So with this in mind I did some investigations through GECOM which led me to two others with similar names. One is 46-years-old and lives on the West Coast of Demerara while the other turned 47 recently and resides at an East Coast location. Both, however, have one thing in common; no familiarity with current events. So any inclination for letter writing by these two is simply out of the question.
Further I did checks at the registry of births and deaths and found that two such ‘Bakshs’ in addition to the three I mentioned are deceased. One died in 1994 and the other in 1999. I also checked social network Facebook, as well as Google and only managed to find an Aleem Baksh that resides in New Zealand and was born in a Middle Eastern Country.
What makes Baksh’s appearance even stranger was that he’s supposed to be the author of a letter that appeared in the Thursday June 3rd edition of the Kaieteur News titled “Dr. Randy Persaud and Ravi Dev have an undying theme” in support of Freddie Kissoon’s attempt to paint East Indians who support the PPP as being backward, naive and stupid. We all know Freddie’s position as it relates to persons who hide behind fictitious names while casting all sorts of aspersions on others so this surely cannot be his doing. Or could it be that ‘Ghosts’ or ‘Zombies’ have taken over the entire editorial department of Kaieteur News?
